Dr. Mariya Grun

I began my career in traditional pharmacy, where I worked closely with patients managing long-term conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. What I witnessed—over and over—were people who genuinely followed their treatment plans, made an effort to eat better, moved their bodies, and still struggled. The medications kept increasing. The symptoms persisted. The “solutions” felt more like stopgaps than healing. At a certain point, I started to question:

Is this really the best we can do? This question became personal for me, too. After becoming a mother, I found myself burnt out, depleted, and dismissed with vague advice despite "normal" labs. None of the tools from my pharmacy training could explain what was happening in my own body—or offer meaningful answers. That’s what led me to Functional Medicine. Through deeper training and a completely different approach to care, I discovered what’s possible when we stop treating symptoms in isolation and instead look at the body as an interconnected system. Today, I support patients in understanding "the why" behind their health concerns, and together, we create sustainable, science-backed paths toward healing.

I live in Florida with my husband and our three children. When I’m not working, I’m usually chasing one of them—or reading clinical journals while my coffee goes cold.
